About Lane Ryan Auctions
Mr. Groff was raised on a dairy farm in Lancaster County and attended many auctions in the central Pennsylvania area. His passion for the auction industry began at an early age and being an auctioneer was a lifelong dream of Ryan’s. A 1998 graduate of Manheim Central High School, he learned the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. Upon graduation, he opened an auto repair and paint center in Manheim, PA.
In 2000, Mr. Groff sold the auto repair center and focused his career on the auction business. Ryan Groff began his auctioneer apprenticeship under John Hess, owner of Hess Auction Group. Ryan worked for John Hess Auction Service for many years where he gained valuable auction experience.
In 2002, Ryan began selling automobiles for Manheim Auto Auction and opened Classic Edge Auctions & Appraisal Services in Hershey, PA. In 2003, Erica (Wineske) Taylor joined the company and together they conducted real estate, antique and personal property auctions. Ryan sold the business to Mrs. Taylor in 2005 and began working with Kerry Pae Auctioneers. This was an opportunity to gain valuable auction experience in commercial liquidations, bankruptcies and equipment. Ryan has managed hundreds of auctions for Kerry Pae Auctioneers, grossing millions of dollars for their clients. During this time, Mr. Groff also grew his auto auction subcontracting business. He now conducts weekly auctions in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania selling vehicles for clients such and Wells Fargo, Hahn Finacial Services, Volkswagen Credit and BMW Finacial Services.
In 2015, Mr. Groff started Lane Ryan Auctions, LLC. Ryan continues to manage day to day operations for Kerry Pae Auctioneers. Their combined efforts conduct over 200 auctions per year. Ryan continues to serve area banks, financial institutions, attorneys, estates and private clients.
Through his auction work for Kerry Pae Auctioneers, Lane Ryan Auctions and as a subcontractor for auto auctions across the east coast, Mr. Groff sells in excess of five million dollars of vehicles, personal property and real estate weekly.
