Ryan’s passion for the auction industry began at an early age while attending several auctions in the central Pennsylvania area which developed into Ryan’s lifelong dream of being an auctioneer. He was raised on a dairy farm in Lancaster County where he learned the value of hard work, honesty and integrity.
Upon graduating Manheim Central High School in 1998, Ryan began his auctioneer apprenticeship with Hess Auction Group. John Hess, owner of Hess Auction Group, provided Ryan the mentorship and guidance needed to gain years of invaluable auction experience.
In 2002, Ryan began his automobile auction career by selling automobiles for Manheim Auto Auction. Shortly thereafter, he opened Classic Edge Auctions and Appraisal Services in Hershey, PA and partnered with Erica (Wineske) Taylor. Together, they conducted real estate, antique and personal property auctions. By 2005, Ryan was ready to take his career even further, so he sold the company to Erica. Ryan then took a position with Kerry Pae Auctioneers in Harrisburg PA.
Ryan was able to gain valuable auction experience in commercial liquidations, equipment, and bankruptcy auctions. Through this endeavor, Ryan succeeded in managing hundreds of auctions grossing millions of dollars for the clients of Kerry Pae Auctioneers. During this time, Ryan expanded his automobile auctioneer experience by working as a subcontract auctioneer at several auto auctions in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. He still conducts weekly auctions selling vehicles for clients such as Wells Fargo, Hahn Financial Services, Volkswagen Credit, BMW Financial Services, Nissan Corp. and many more.
In 2015, Ryan started Lane Ryan Auctions, LLC and continues to manage the day to day operations for Kerry Pae Auctioneers. Their combined efforts conduct over 200 auctions per year. Ryan sells in excess of $200,000,000 dollars in vehicles, personal property and real estate each year. Ryan currently holds a Pennsylvania Real Estate License, Auctioneer’s license in both Pennsylvania and Maryland, and is a proud member of the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association.
